Punjab Festival: The Fair of Baba Sodal

India is the holy land for all the festivals, fair and culture. Punjab is one of the popular culture states in India. Thousands of events have been celebrated with different rituals. ‘The Fair of Baba Sodal’ is one the fire celebrations in Punjab.
“The fair of Baba Sodal” will celebrates in the month of “Bhadon” (mid August- mid September) and everyone from Punjab, Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh pilgrims of all religions are come to Jalandhar for this occasion.
Baba Sodal was born in Jalandhar, Punjab. One day, the holy mother of legendary Baba Sodal went with her son to pound. The child started playing with misch metal clay balls and throwing at her mother. Disturbed mother cursed his son badly.
After that, Baba Sodal jumped into the pound. Some people, who are hearing holy mother’s hue and cry, are jumped into the pound and search for the Baba Sodal. But, the people did not find the sign of the boy.
He has come to be worshipped as the infant god after some time. The fair begins early in the morning when women come in large numbers to make contributions at the samadhi (burial site). Pilgrims take a holy dip in a tank called ‘Baba Sodal da Sarowar’.
