Punjabi First Woman Finance Minister is Upinderjit Kaur

Upinderjit Kaur becomes a first woman Finance Minister for Punjab and she’s the first women to occupy the post in the independent India. Before, she has been working as a professor at Patiala’s Punjabi University and wrote two books.
Upinderjit Kaur is the daughter of late Atma Singh Veteran Akali Leader, Former Cabinet Minister, Punjab Government, General Secretary & Patron Shiromani Akali Dal and Member and Acting President SGPC, Amritsar.
Upinderjit Kaur had completed MA in Economics from Delhi School of Economics, Delhi University and has done Ph. D in Economics from Punjabi University Patiala. She has also taught economics at Sydney University, Australia in 1974 and guided 26 students in M.Phil and Ph.D degrees in Economics.
Upinderjit Kaur is elected to the Punjab Assembly in 1997, 2002 and 2007 consecutively.
